LAN Switching

This course provides a clear and practical overview of Layer 2 Ethernet Switching technologies used in modern enterprise networks. It is designed to help learners understand how switches operate, how Layer 2 traffic is forwarded, and how different switching features support reliable and scalable network communication. Throughout the course, learners will study key Layer 2 technologies such as Spanning Tree Protocol, commonly known as STP, which helps prevent switching loops and maintain network stability. The course also covers VLAN Trunking Protocol, or VTP, explaining how VLAN information can be managed and distributed across switches. In addition, learners will explore Port Channels and understand how multiple physical links can be combined into a single logical connection to improve bandwidth, redundancy, and overall network performance. The course also introduces other important Layer 2 switching features that are commonly used in Cisco network environments. By the end of this course, learners will have a stronger understanding of Ethernet switching concepts, Layer 2 design behavior, configuration basics, and troubleshooting methods needed to work confidently with switched network infrastructures.
