Essentials of Policy-Based Routing
This course introduces Cisco Policy-Based Routing (PBR) and explains how it allows routers to override normal destination-based forwarding decisions by applying policies to inbound traffic. You’ll learn how PBR fits into the packet-forwarding process and how route-maps and ACLs are used to match traffic and define forwarding actions using next-hop IP addresses or outgoing interfaces. The course also covers the basic steps required to configure PBR, along with important operational considerations such as how PBR handles transit versus locally generated traffic. Finally, you’ll learn how to verify and troubleshoot PBR behavior and how route-maps can optionally mark packets using IP precedence or ToS values.
