MPLS Quality of Service

This section provides a detailed explanation of Quality of Service, commonly known as QoS, and how it operates within MPLS VPN environments. It focuses on the configuration, verification, and troubleshooting of QoS behavior when customer traffic is carried across an MPLS provider network. Throughout this section, learners will understand how QoS is used to classify, mark, prioritize, and manage traffic across MPLS VPN services. The training explains how service providers handle different traffic classes, such as voice, video, business-critical applications, and standard data traffic, while maintaining performance and service consistency across the MPLS backbone. The section also covers the interaction between customer QoS markings and provider MPLS markings, helping learners understand how QoS values are preserved, changed, or interpreted as traffic moves between customer edge, provider edge, and provider core devices. A key focus of this section is the comparison between Uniform Mode and Pipe Mode configurations. Learners will understand how each model affects QoS marking, traffic treatment, and visibility between the customer network and the MPLS provider network. By the end of this section, learners will have a stronger understanding of how QoS supports MPLS VPN traffic forwarding, how different QoS modes are applied, and how to verify and troubleshoot QoS behavior in real-world MPLS VPN deployments.
