Practical Python Cisco Network Automation

Networking is rapidly evolving, and with the growth of network automation and programmability, Python has become an essential skill for modern network engineers. This course is designed to help learners understand Python specifically from a networking perspective, rather than from the viewpoint of a software developer or server administrator. The focus of this course is practical Cisco IOS network automation. Learners will explore how Python can be used to automate real networking tasks, manage devices more efficiently, and reduce repetitive manual configuration work. The course is built for network engineers who want skills they can apply directly in today’s network environments. Throughout the course, learners will create multiple Python scripts and use them to automate several GNS3-based network labs. Cisco VIRL or physical Cisco equipment can also be used as alternatives. By the end of the course, learners will have the knowledge and confidence to begin automating Cisco networks immediately. Key automation methods and tools covered in this course include Telnet, SSH, Netmiko, and NAPALM, giving learners hands-on exposure to commonly used Python-based network automation technologies.
